The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Amateur Radio License exam is a certification process for individuals who want to operate amateur (ham) radio in the United States. The exam is administered by Volunteer Examiner Coordinators (VECs) and consists of multiple-choice questions covering various aspects of radio communication, rules, and safety. There are three classes of licenses, each offering different privileges and requiring a separate exam.
Note: A proctored exam session will be offered at the Rising Stars Conference. There is no fee to take any exam, but you must register for the exam session to be held at the conference, download the study materials and obtain your FRN (see below after the description of the FCC Exam) in order to take the exam at the conference.

Join us for a hands-on workshop with Microchip’s new CircuitPython development kit where students will create a motion-responsive display by controlling the Microchip "Meatball" logo using an ICM20948 9-axis IMU sensor. Participants will learn embedded systems fundamentals by navigating technical documentation, reading IMU data via I2C, converting sensor measurements to display coordinates, and implementing boundary detection to keep the logo on screen. Through completing strategically guided tasks in partially completed code, students will gain practical experience with sensor interfacing, data type handling, drift calibration, and the problem-solving skills essential for embedded systems development, while building an intuitive interface that translates physical tilt and movement into real-time on-screen motion.
Bring yourself and your laptop with VS Code installed. The kit includes a USB-A to USB-C cable. If your laptop is USB-C only, bring a USB-C to USB-C cable.
Note: Participants will be capped to 30 individuals with a giveaway of 5 kits by

Strategies that Enhance Your Job Search Success, Increase
Your Impact and Marketability and Effective Identification or Use of Your Network
The focal points of the session include:
• Enhancing Your Job Search Success
• Increasing Your Impact and Marketability
• Identifying, Expanding, and Using Your Network
• Taking Command of Your Career
• Becoming an Influencer
The basic assumption that you must make as an emerging professional is that you are a
product. Like any other product, including a car, a computer, or a screwdriver, you have
specific attributes and applications.
Articulating your attributes, values and market are critical first steps in the process of your job
search and career choices. How you increase your marketability, and the attraction of
employers (purchasers) is a function of understanding your strengths, your key skills, and your
anticipated ROI to your prospective employer (customer). Getting in front of the correct
customers is influenced by the support from within your network.
The session will focus on creating a “sellable” product that, by quickly communicating your
abilities, understanding your strengths, and becoming engaged with a supportive professional
network, can put you on a highly satisfying career path that will exceed your long-term
expectations.
