EPICS
EPICS in IEEE is excited to be hosting a workshop at the IEEE Rising Stars 2022 for students interested in
submitting project proposals for consideration of funding up to 10,000 USD.
Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS in IEEE) is an IEEE program managed by the
Educational Activities Department that provides financial grants to student groups to participate and
complete service-learning projects in their communities in the areas of human services,
environmental, access and abilities, or education and outreach. The program strives to assist educators
and students alike to apply their knowledge in engineering disciplines to build not just products, but to
build and improve communities!
EPICS envisions a world where Engineering Education is Intimately Connected to Community Service.
Over the last 10 years, the program has supported the development of more than 150 projects
worldwide, involving over 11,000 pre-university and university students and investing over 700,000
USD.
During the workshop, Stephanie and Samarth from the EPICS committee will work with interested
students on developing technical proposals that solves a community problem. Draft proposals that are
submitted during the workshop will be reviewed during the conference and will be eligible for funding
up to 10,000 USD.
We invite all students attending the conference to start thinking of ideas they would like to submit as
proposals during the workshop. See you at the 2022 IEEE Rising Stars Conference and welcome to the
EPICS in IEEE workshop.
